When are elections for the new executive council?
The NHS meeting in April. (The winners will be announced at the meeting in May)
What does the executive council do?
*all members of the executive council attend monthly executive council meetings (to prepare for club meetings), discuss club business, count hours of existing members, go through applications with selection rubric for prospective members, and attend/briefly speak at the induction ceremony
President- oversees/leads the meetings, helps organize drives and other club events
Vice President- fulfills duties of president if absent or he/she can no longer fulfill position, makes announcements over the intercom, secures the meeting space for each meeting, helps the president organize drives and other club events
Secretary- makes the schedule of topics at the executive meeting, shares the "meeting minutes" with the public relations officer on google docs, emails all members about upcoming meetings (check out the meeting minutes tab for examples)
Volunteer Coordinator- consistently seeks out club hour opportunities, communicates with heads of outside organizations, communicates opportunities with club members
Public Relations- responsible for maintaining website (calendar, google spreadsheet signups, posting volunteer opportunities), NHS Instagram, and maintaining the bulletin board outside of Tompkins room (coming next year)
What are CLUB hours?
Club hours are anything that the executive council puts on the website under the "club hours" heading on the volunteer tab. These are volunteer opportunities that we, as a club, have decided to take on.
Ex: The blood drive, the clothing drive
Simply volunteering somewhere with a group of friends, does NOT count as a club hour. It's only a club hour if you can find it under the "club hours" heading on the volunteer tab.
What are INDIVIDUAL hours?
Individual hours are volunteer opportunities that you find and complete yourself. We have some suggestions on the volunteer page.
Ex: Shoveling your neighbor's driveway for free or volunteering at the humane society with your friends.
How many hours am I required to complete?
You are required to complete 12 hours of volunteering each semester. We suggest 5 club hours and 7 individual hours.
Do CLUB hours count as INDIVIDUAL hours?
Yes. You must have at least 5 club hours and 12 hours in total. This means you could have 5 club hours and 7 individual or 10 club hours and 2 individual. (We would like to see at least 2 individual hours).
When are hours due for the first semester of the 2016/2017 school year?
Thursday, February 9, 2017. Get your form from Tompkins room (C204) and return your form there also.
What is the "Meeting Minutes" tab all about?
If you missed a meeting, you should go to the "Meeting Minutes" tab and find the document titled with the date of the meeting you missed, to review important information that was covered during the meeting.
